The Office of Student Assessment at the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) will host a one-day Mississippi Assessment Program (MAP) Item Writing Workshop for teachers this June 2017 at three locations around the state.
This professional development opportunity will provide attendees with direct instruction about how Math and English items are aligned to the Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards, how items are aligned to item specifications and the MAP blueprints, and how items meet the MAP style guide.
Attendees will work with MAP item writers to review, edit items, and create items of their own which meet the specifications of the MAP assessment. Teachers will leave the Item Writing Workshop with the ability to return to the classroom and create assessment items that align instruction, the standards, and the MAP assessment.
Teachers are invited to sign up for one of the following locations:
- June 13, 2017
Desoto Central Middle School-Southaven, MS
- June 14, 2017
Madison Central High School-Madison, MS
- June 15, 2017

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m. each day. Refreshments will be served; however, attendees will be responsible for their daily meals. CEUs will be provided for all attendees.
